Ethereum Classic Technology Overview
Ethereum Classic is the original, unmodified Ethereum blockchain that continued the chain after the DAO hard fork in 2016. While Ethereum (ETH) rolled back transactions to undo the DAO hack, ETC's community maintained "Code is Law"—the principle that blockchain transactions are immutable and irreversible. ETC uses Proof of Work (ETCHASH algorithm) and maintains smart contract compatibility with early Ethereum. Following Ethereum's transition to Proof of Stake, Ethereum Classic became the primary destination for ex-Ethereum GPU miners, who now secure the ETC network.
