Candlestick Chart
A price chart where each period is drawn as a body spanning the open and close, with wicks extending to the high and low. The body is coloured by whether the close was above or below the open.
A candle compresses a whole period into four numbers, so the sequence inside it is lost. A long wick tells you price went there and did not stay, but not when within the period, which is why single-candle patterns carry less information than they appear to.
