Centralised Exchange

A company-operated trading platform that holds customer funds and matches orders on its own internal ledger. Abbreviated CEX.

Balances on a centralised exchange are a claim on the company, not possession of the asset, and that distinction has decided outcomes repeatedly. The convenience is real and so is the counterparty risk.
