Exponential Moving Average
A moving average that weights recent prices more heavily than older ones, so it responds faster to a change in direction than a simple average of the same length.
An EMA trades lag for noise. It turns sooner, which means it also turns on moves that go nowhere. Neither the simple nor the exponential form is better in general; they fail in different ways.
