Governance Token
A token that confers voting rights over a protocol's parameters, treasury, or upgrades, in proportion to the amount held.
Governance is proportional to holdings, so a protocol where a few addresses hold most of the supply is governed by those addresses regardless of how the process is described. Participation rates in most token votes are low enough that a modest holding can decide outcomes.
