Gravestone Doji
A doji whose open, close and low are all near the bottom of the candle, leaving a long upper wick and effectively no lower one.
The mirror of the dragonfly: price rose during the period and gave all of it back. Read as selling into strength, and conventionally as the more bearish doji.
What a gravestone doji has actually done
Every occurrence we hold, scored on whether price moved more than 0.5% in the pattern’s own direction within three candles.
| Timeframe | Occurrences | Reached target | Baseline | Edge |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1H · crypto | 2,940 | 22.5% | 22.7% | -0.1pp |
| 4H · crypto | 1,590 | 24.8% | 37.4% | -12.6pp |
| 1D · crypto | 684 | 37.4% | 48.6% | -11.2pp |
Baseline is the share of ordinary candles that passed the same test over the same period, same timeframe and same direction. A rate at or below it means the shape added nothing. Edge is the difference between the two. This is a record of what followed, not a forecast.
