Hash Rate
The total computing power committed to mining a proof-of-work network, measured in hashes per second.
The nearest thing a blockchain has to a security budget: attacking a proof-of-work chain means out-computing the honest participants, so a higher hash rate means a more expensive attack. It is also a lagging economic signal — miners commit hardware on expectations of future revenue, and hash rate therefore tends to follow price rather than lead it.
