Impermanent Loss
The shortfall a liquidity provider experiences relative to simply holding the two assets, arising when their relative price changes after the deposit.
The name is misleading — the loss is only impermanent if prices return to their original ratio, which is not a thing to count on. For a volatile pair it is frequently the dominant term, and fee income has to exceed it before providing liquidity has been worthwhile at all.
