Market Capitalisation
The total value of a cryptocurrency's circulating supply, calculated as the current price multiplied by the number of coins in circulation. It is the standard measure of a project's relative size.
Market cap is widely misread as "money invested in this coin". It is not: it is an arithmetic product, and a thinly traded token can carry a large market cap on very little real buying. Always read it next to 24-hour volume — a billion-dollar cap on a million dollars of daily volume means most of that value cannot be realised.
