Relative Strength Index
A momentum oscillator, abbreviated RSI, that compares the size of recent gains to recent losses on a 0–100 scale. Readings above 70 are conventionally called overbought and below 30 oversold.
The overbought and oversold labels mislead more than they help. A strong trend routinely holds RSI above 70 for weeks, and selling into that because the indicator says "overbought" means selling the strongest part of the move. We publish measured outcomes for RSI crossings rather than repeating the convention.
