What is correlation in financial markets?
Asset correlation measures how closely two prices move together over time. A correlation near +1 means the assets tend to rise and fall together. A value near −1 means when one rises the other tends to fall — useful for hedging. A value near 0 means their price movements are largely independent. This tool uses Pearson correlation calculated from daily average prices stored in our own database.
Crypto — Near real-time. Aggregated across exchanges by CoinGecko and polled every 15 minutes.
Metals — Delayed. Front-month COMEX futures, published by Yahoo Finance about 10 minutes behind the exchange.
Forex — Daily reference rate. The European Central Bank publishes one reference rate per business day, around 16:00 CET. It is a reference, not a tradeable quote, and it does not move intraday.
