What it means
An authority can freeze an individual holder’s tokens in place.
Why a contract might have it
Standard and disclosed for fiat-backed stablecoins and tokenised real-world assets, where the issuer is legally obliged to be able to.
When it matters
On a token with no identified issuer, there is nobody the power answers to.
